Asset Forge is actually awesome
I've had Asset Forge from Kenney for actual years, before I even had my own place to live, but I never really actually used it before. I'm just woefully uncreative and just couldn't picture making stuff outside of the blocks you're given inside the tool. And even within that narrow scope, I couldn't even make the simplest stuff, like something resembling a building. Now though, I've watched how some other people work with it and it broke all barriers down. I'm sure it's the the simplest day 1 type stuff for anybody who is actually creative, but this was mind blowing for me:
Big stuff is just made of a bunch of little stuff. Like, no duh. But seriously, here's a comparison between my asset and the one I'm replacing in the project.
It's all just one shape, resized and rotated to wherever I need it to fit. Just a square block. I'm a very by-the-book type of person, I'd never imagine using a block for anything else than where I would happen to want a big square block. Then I see a guy straight up make a little laptop in asset forge and I'm all "woah, that's wild" and so now I feel like there's nothing stopping me from actually making everything myself. If I've got a reference, then I can make it happen. That's a really cool feeling to have.
One more screenshot, I call this guy "simple_planT"
